JLLVPA Finds the Good with Easton Shelter Renovation
Sometimes, doing good starts with a simple question: How can we make a difference right here at home?
For the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley (JLLVPA), the answer came in the form of a vibrant, newly renovated common space for women and children at the Third Street Alliance in downtown Easton. On Wednesday, September 24, League members gathered with community partners for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the project’s completion. It was a true labor of love, six months in the making.
Armed with donations, volunteer energy, and a lot of heart, JLLVPA members transformed the space into a warm, welcoming environment for families who are rebuilding their lives. The renovated area will serve as a place for residents to do homework, connect, and simply unwind. This space will be an essential comfort for those navigating challenging circumstances.
A Historic Partnership
Third Street Alliance provides vital housing and early childhood education resources to families across the Lehigh Valley. For women and children seeking refuge, having a nurturing environment can make all the difference.
“The Junior League was originally started to help women and children, specifically in housing, so this was perfect to kind of get into the Junior League roots in doing a project that helps specifically women and children in our area,” says Chelsea Strzempek, sustaining member of the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley and leader of this project.
Highlighting the League’s long history of women empowering women, this project united both new and sustaining members.

Finding the Good
Fittingly, the JLLVPA completed the renovation in honor of “Find the Good Day.” Celebrated on the third Thursday of September, this day encourages people everywhere to celebrate kindness, volunteerism, and the good that exists in all of us. Junior Leagues worldwide celebrate each year by spreading positivity through service and community connection.
“On ‘Find the Good Day,’ we are reminded of the profound difference we can make when we come together with hope and optimism,” said Taryn Kennedy, President of the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley. “Together, we can build a brighter, kinder world, one act of goodness at a time.”
